His Excellency, Deputy Minister for Fishery Resources; Engineer Ahmed Al-Eiadh ,  headed KSA's delegate participating in the meeting allocated to ministers concerned with seas affairs in Portugal held on 26-27 Shaban 1437 H to discuss the objectives of sustainable development and how to achieve it as well as facing the effects of climatic change. KSA's delegate participated effectively in several activities accompanying the conference.  In his speech, His Excellency, Deputy Minister for Fishery Resources, focused on highlighting KSA Vision 2030 that is based on achieving sustainable development in all vital fields besides benefiting from the relative merits of the kingdom in harmony with Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture's strategies targeting to benefit from the kingdom's coasts and reaching production capacity 600.000 tons during the coming 15 years.  In addition, HE pointed to KSA's successful experience in the field of planting coastal mangrove trees suitable to the kingdom's environment as they can be planted in the coasts without the need to water. More than 500.000 trees were planted during this year. 
In addition, His Excellency, Deputy Minister for Fishery Resources, added that this strategy was crowned by the government approval of a national program to develop fishery sector. The program's shall be managed by the public sector, the concerned authorities, and the private sector.
 Furthermore, HE suggested that aquaculture sector goes in steady steps as KSA produces currently more than 30.000 tons of fishery products. Saudi products reach to countries of the European Union and many other countries all over the world.  KSA has an ambitious program to encourage the consuming style of sea products to increase the Saudi individual capita from 11.5 kg/person/year to the international rates. The program also aims to help fishermen use modern techniques in fishing process as well as conducting studies of the fishery stock in KSA's regional water. He stated that there are many programs in the field of nationalizing the fishing craft through finding technical educational programs in this domain. With regard to maintaining the kingdom's vital resources. Moreover, HE Deputy Minister for Fishery Resources noted the importance of building renewable stocks continuously and guaranteeing the best utilization of natural resources stating that Kingdom of Saudi Arabia works with international community to utilize the seas resources within sustainable development in order to achieve food security and self-sufficiency
