Taking into Account the Security Considerations and Overcoming the Economic Obstacles to Investors

Crown Prince approves conditions of fish culture in  Floating Cages  System

Crown Prince approves conditions of fish culture in "Floating Cages" System HRH Prince Mohammed Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Crown Prince, Deputy of Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior approved the security conditions related to fish aquaculture in floating cages system. Hereby Minister of Agriculture Eng. Abdurrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Alfadli says "This approval appeared based on the minute of the committee including Ministry of Interior, Borders Guard, Ministry of Agriculture, and Saudi Aquaculture Society) to study updating the procedure's related to fish aquaculture in salty water according to a new vision taking into account maintaining the security requirements and in the same time not forming an economic barrier to investors in such vital important projects."

Eng. Alfadli added "the committee recommended certain security conditions to be implemented by investors before starting the project. Such conditions included establishing a wharf for docking marine means working in the project when necessary. This must be coordinated with Borders Guard to determine the wharf specifications according to Borders Guard security requirements and set up a security point for Borders Guard in the area facing the project coastal site equipped with lighting and fence for control and inspection according to the specifications determined by Border Guard."

In addition, he assured the importance of investor's compliance to security conditions during implementing the project and starting to practice activity including allocating an independent location of Border Guard in floating marine stations to work as an advanced control point operated by Border Guard when necessary as well as securing the floating cages and preventing boats from approaching such cages and informing about the breaching boats. The instructions stated in security and safety regulations for those practicing fishing, diving, and entertainment in the waters of Saudi Arabia should be committed with through any procedures required by Border Guard in the future from boats or coastal projects and informing labor of the project with such requirements.

Minister of Agriculture added "private institutions in the coastal projects on the sea directly mustn't hinder the patrols lines or vision. The investor must comply with putting the guiding signs and approved navigation lights around the cages according to accredited marine safety requirements and record the names of employees working in the project and marine means and register them in Border Guard Center and nor change then except when necessary along with notifying about any change. The administrative director and security supervisors (after verifying their security records) and public relations official must be Saudis.

At the conclusion of his press release, Minister of Agriculture expressed his thanking to HRH Prince Mohammed Bin Naif Bin Abdul Aziz Crown Prince, Deputy of Prime Minister, and Minister of Interior for supporting investment in fish aquaculture which shall reflect positively to provide food security as fish is one of the appropriate means and the ideal benefit from natural resources especially the Red Sea in line with scientific bases of  sustainable development of rural coastal areas through job creation for the country residents and limiting immigration to the main cities.
